Federal EcoEnergy Rebate Registrations Now Closed
Feb 01, 2012
The Office of Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources Canada announced last weekend that effective January 28, 2012, no new registrations for the EcoEnergy program will be accepted. Existing registrants who complete retrofits before the original March 31, 2012 deadline will be unaffected by this change.
What Does This Mean for You?
If you are already registered for the EcoEnergy rebate program, this change does not affect you. If you were not registered for the program as of January 28, 2012, you are no longer eligible for this rebate. Please contact us at your earliest convenience to discuss your options and the rebates which are currently available to you (such as the still-valid Ontario Power Authority rebate, a total value of $650).
Unfortunately, there was no advance warning of this policy change provided to the HVAC industry by NRCan. We regret any inconvenience that this may have caused our valued customers who were intending on taking advantage of the incentive program.
Here is an excerpt from the NRCan press release:
“After reaching our goal of 250,000 registrations, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) stopped accepting new registrations into the federal grant program on January 28, 2012. The deadline to complete work remains March 31, 2012, however the deadline to obtain a post-retrofit evaluation for work completed by March 31, 2012, is now June 30, 2012. For more information, visit the dates and deadlines page or the registration section of the Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQ) page.”
